What New?

-Faster Cpu/Double the ram/Better graphic.
This means that games, web surfing, and apps run 50% faster, and it’s noticeable when you go from the older model to the newer one.

-Double the storage for the same old price

-OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics. Soon there will be games that offer advanced effects, and this iPod touch will be ready for it. At the time of this writing there are only three games with Open GL ES 2.0 support, but eventually you will be required to have it to use some apps. I’d rather have it than not have it. Besides, water, shadows, and other things look great with it.

-Voice control function
New Voice control function, this is cool function, it does allow you to control your music via your voice, no need to get the iPod out of your pocket you can say “Next” to move to next song, say “shuffle” for shuffle ,simple say “Pause” and music playback will stop etc.

-Latest firmware for free

-New Earbuds with built in remote+Microphone.
Now you can control the iPod touch without looking at the screen, and use apps like Skype and Shazam without adapters. Very handy.

***IMPORTANT*** The new third generation 8GB iPod touch is NOT 3G it’s a second generation iPod touch but apple did repack it/renamed it to 3rd generation.

Only The iPod touch 32GB 3rd generation and iPod touch 64GB 3rd generation comes with a free mic+remote with the earbuds while the 8GB do not (it comes with normal earbuds), the 32GB/64GB have the New CPU+Graphic (According to apple the new cpu is twice as fast just like the iPhone 3GS) while the new 8GB use the same old CPU/Chip from the old iPod touch second generation.

The iPod touch 32GB 3rd generation and iPod touch 64GB 3rd generation got the best browser , it’s super fast and smooth, if you hated browsing with lame browsers that crash a lot or slow (many mobile phones).

 
The Good: The 3rd Generation of Apple’s iPod Touch is still the king of the hill when it comes to portable, Wi-Fi-wielding media players. New additions such as Voice Control, graphics enhancements, improved accessibility, higher capacity, and a faster processor help to refine and already excellent product.
The Bad: The video cameras found on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Nano remain conspicuously absent. The lack of refinements to its audio quality, hardware design, and video playback leave us feeling just a little uninspired.

Summary:
It’s the killer personal entertainment device. Buy it!. You know you want it — especially if you have read this far. If you have the 2nd gen iPod, you may need to ask yourself if the slight speed bump and the additional storage is worth the hefty price tag. To me it was, but your mileage may vary.
